My Space: From Ballet Shoes to Doodles, Star Zach Manske Shows What Keeps Him Dancing in Billy Elliot

As Billy in the national tour of Billy Elliot, Zach Manske pirouettes toward his dreams of becoming a ballet dancer. When he’s not thrilling audiences in the Tony Award-winning musical, Manske can be found kicking up his heels backstage. Here, he shows off his favorite dressing room items. Take a look!

“My water bottle is very important because I always need to stay hydrated throughout the show. I love the color blue and the fact it has a bite valve.”

“I am always looking through my notes before a show. This helps me constantly make my performance stronger. My notebook needs to be big, because when I get bored, I doodle in it, too.”

“I don’t get to see my family a lot since I am on the road so much. That’s why I have constant reminders of them in my dressing room and at home.”

“I always need my ballet shoes for warm-up and ballet class. About every two weeks I need a new pair since I use them so much!”

“I always have my iPhone with me. I can listen to music before a show to get pumped up or post a new status on Facebook. Got to love smart phones!”

See Zach Manske in the Tony-winning Billy Elliot at the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre from November 13 through November 18.
