The classic American musical returns to the stage.

Addison Reid Coe, MaryJoanna Grisso and More Set to Star in West Side Story National Tour

The Jets and Sharks have new recruits. Addison Reid Coe and MaryJoanna Grisso will star as Tony and Maria, respectively, in the new cast of the national tour of West Side Story. The show will also feature Michelle Alves as Anita, Andres Acosta as Bernardo and Theo Lencicki as Riff.

Coe has been seen regionally in Legally Blonde. Grisso’s regional credits include DreamWorks Shrektacular, Guys and Dolls and Urinetown. Alves has appeared regionally in Rent, Hair, Nine, Hairspray and Chicago. Acosta’s credits include Grease, A Chorus Line, Ragtime and Hairspray. Lencicki’s national tour credits include Hairspray, A Chorus Line and Young Frankenstein.

The cast will also feature Amber Ardolino, Yesinia Ayala, Lauren Cannon, Konrad Case, Blue Cervini, Max Chucker, Mark Deler, Erika Hebron, Dan Huggins, Matthew Krob, Greg London, Guy Mandia Jr., Thomas Mothershed, Louie Napoleon, Thaddeus Pearson, Josh Pins, Anthony Raimondi, J. Nycole Ralph, Tory Ramirez, Bridget Riley, Ricardo Rique-Sanchez, Arianna Rosario, Carolina Sanchez, Michael Shultz, Jeff M. Smith, Tony Thomas, Juan Torres-Falcon and Laura Volpacchio.

West Side Story takes place in New York City in the mid-1950s amidst widespread racial and social tension. Tony is a Jet ready to leave the gang life behind. Maria is the sister of Sharks leader, Bernardo. When Tony and Maria unexpectedly meet and fall for each other, the tension that has been building between the rival gangs explodes. The beloved score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim features such classics as “Something’s Coming,” “I Feel Pretty” and “Tonight.”

The classic musical features scenic designs by James Youmans, costumes by David C. Woolard, lighting by Howell Binkley and sound design by Peter McBoyle.
