Alex Nee and More Set to Star in American Idiot National Tour

There’s a new gang of Idiots parading around the country in the national tour of American Idiot’s second year on the road. Alex Nee will star as Johnny in the Green Day tuner, joined by Casey O’Farrell as Will, Thomas Hettrick as Tunny and Trent Saunders as St. Jimmy. The show will also feature Kennedy Caughell as Heather, Alyssa DiPalma as Whatsername and Jenna Rubaii as The Extraordinary Girl.

Nee will make his national tour debut. His regional credits include Spring Awakening, Rent and The Who’s Tommy. The American Idiot national tour cast will also feature ensemble members Aurie Ceylon, Carson Higgins, Antwaun Holley, Daniel C. Jackson, Brandon Kalm, John Krause, Alison Morooney, Turner Rouse Jr., Jamal Shuriah, Dustin Harris Smith, Ashley Tobias, Cheslea Turbin and Jared Young.

Based on Green Day's Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album, American Idiot tells the story of three lifelong friends forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. The rock musical features the songs “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends” and “Holiday.”

In addition to music by Green Day, American Idiot features a book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer, who also directs. American Idiot is choreographed by Steven Hoggett and orchestrated by Tom Kitt. The tour will play 42 cities across the U.S. and Europe, including Baltimore, Columbus, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh.
