The Tradition Continues as Fiddler on the Roof Opens in Indianapolis

Curtain Up 03/06/12

It’s a match! The national tour of Fiddler on the Roof begins performances in Indianapolis on March 6. The musical will play the Murat Theatre at the Old National Centre through March 11.

Based on the stories of Sholom Aleichem, Fiddler on the Roof takes place in Anatevka, a village in Tsarist Russia during the eve of the revolution. Tevye is a poor milkman who cares for his five daughters. While he and the rest of the elders in the village are deeply routed in tradition, his daughters’ forward thinking clashes with Tevye’s principles and causes a rift in the family. The score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick features the songs “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “If I Were A Rich Man” and “Sunrise, Sunset.”

The show stars Jonathan Preece as Tevye, Pamela D. Chabora as Golde, Brooke Hills as Tzeitel, Sarah Sesler as Hodel, Chelsey LeBel as Chava, Andrew Boza as Motel, Barbi McGuire as Yente, Joshua Phan-Gruber as Perchik, Michael Shultz as Fyedka and David B. Springstead as Lazar Wolf.
