Fiddler on the Roof - National Tour

The musical that raises its cup to joy! To love! To life!

Tour Star Andrew Boza Learns ‘Tradition’ from a Fiddler on the Roof Original

Working with the late director/choreographer Jerome Robbins is a mark many young actors wish they could have on their resumes, but Andrew Boza is experiencing the next best thing. As Motel, the shy tailor in the national tour of Fiddler on the Roof, Boza is getting a glimpse into Robbins’ original production through the eyes of his director.

“Our director, Sammy Dallas Bayes, was in the original cast of Fiddler and became Jerome Robbins’ apprentice. Him being there from the start gives our show more insight and authenticity than we could ever have imagined,” Boza told

Bayes was in the ensemble of the original 1964 Broadway cast and served as the dance captain under Robbins’ direction. In directing the national tour, Bayes has recreated Robbins’ original staging and choreography. “Learning the show from Sammy makes it feel as though it is being passed down to us. Much like one of the main concepts in the show, we are the next generation learning the traditions from those who came before us.”

Boza is keeping the tradition of Fiddler alive with castmembers John Preece as Tevye, Gerri Weagraff as Golde, Brooke Hills as Tzeitel, Sarah Sesler as Hodel, and Chelsey LeBel as Chava. The beloved musical comes to Indianapolis’ Murat Theatre March 6 through March 11
